HomeTech AI ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using HomeTech AI, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. When you add devices, start diagnostic sessions, or interact with the AI, we store the information you enter — device names, brands, models, problem descriptions, photos you upload, and your feedback on diagnostic results.
We collect usage data including IP address, device type, browser information, operating system, screen resolution, timezone, and language. This data is used for security, analytics, and service improvement. We use non-invasive browser fingerprinting (User-Agent, screen resolution, timezone, language, platform) to recognize trusted devices. We do not use canvas, WebGL, font, or audio fingerprinting.
If you enable Network Monitor (a Premium feature), we collect and store the monitoring configuration (hostname, IP address, port, method, interval) and probe results (online/offline status, response time, timestamps) for the devices you configure. This data is used solely to provide the monitoring service and alert you to device availability changes.
HomeTech AI uses large language model (LLM) artificial intelligence to generate diagnostic recommendations. AI-generated content is based on the information you provide and may not always be accurate. AI recommendations are suggestions only and should not replace professional repair services when needed. You are responsible for any actions taken based on AI recommendations. Always follow safety guidelines when working with electrical devices.
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher. Data at rest is encrypted using industry-standard encryption. Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) secrets are encrypted with AES-GCM before storage. Recovery codes are stored as SHA-256 hashes — plain text codes are never persisted. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising. We may share anonymized, aggregated data that cannot be linked to you individually for the purpose of improving our AI models. Your diagnostic conversations and device information are not shared with other users. Knowledge Base articles are generated from aggregated, anonymized data and do not contain personally identifiable information.
HomeTech AI uses the following third-party services for essential functionality:
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing data handling. We share only the minimum data necessary for each service to function.
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is removed from active systems immediately. Some data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days for disaster recovery, after which it is permanently destroyed. Anonymous, aggregated data used for AI model improvement is not linked to your account and is retained indefinitely.
You can delete your account at any time from Profile, then Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent and removes your user record, all devices, diagnostic sessions, maintenance reminders, knowledge base feedback, MFA settings, and associated audit logs. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel your Premium subscription — cancel through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store first to avoid being charged.
HomeTech AI requests the following permissions:
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@hometechai.app. We will respond within 30 days.
HomeTech AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, contact us and we will delete it. The Family Safety feature is designed for parents to manage devices associated with their children — the parent controls all data entered for these profiles.
We implement industry-standard security measures including TLS encryption, AES-GCM encryption for sensitive data, SHA-256 hashing for recovery codes, multi-factor authentication, anomaly detection, session timeout, and audit logging. Despite these measures, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to enable MFA and use a strong, unique password.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
